Dittmar Adventures

We really enjoyed our time in Torres Del Paine doing the W Trek. It was truly an unforgettable experience. Dittmar Adventures put together our itinerary and made showing up to each campsite easy with having preprinted vouchers to hand each vendor. We also spoke with many other trekkers about the hassle they had with ensuring they had campsites at each Refugio, so it was nice that Dittmar had secured us tents. However, the lunch Dittmar had supplied us to begin our trek was subpar. The sandwiches were soggy as if they had been made a week prior, and they had also given us expired mixed fruits and nuts. They had already been expired for a month when we received them. This was our first meal on the 5 day trek. The box lunches that the other vendors provided were great though! Also, for our last night, we were under the impression we would be staying in the Dittmar Domes. We were excited about this because we had seen lots of domes along the hike that looked very enticing. Come to find out, when we arrived at the Dittmar Domes they only had two domes - one was used for cooking and the other used for gathering and hanging up wet clothes, while also doubling as chow hall (talk about gross!). The one used for cooking did not look sanitary at all. We were then shown to our tent that was infested with bugs. The sleeping bags were already in it, and when we climbed in we could see tears in the roof that were letting the bugs in. While sitting in there for about 5 minutes, I killed a spider. We enjoy camping, but not sleeping with bugs. We didn’t even want to open the sleeping bag to find out how many bugs had made nests in there. It had also been pouring rain all day and we wanted a nice dry place to sleep, so we decided to just pick up our belongings and hope to find an available tent at the Refugio campsite. Thankfully, Fantastico Sur (the Refugio vendor who we had previously stayed with another night on the trail and had a great experience with) had an available tent for us and even gave us a discount for having heard about our experience with the Dittmar campsite. We also purchased additional meal tickets through them since we did not want to eat out of the unsanitary dome or the unrefrigerated plastic containers sitting in puddles that were housing that nights, and probably the next few weeks, worth of food for poor unsuspecting future guests of the domes. This ended up costing us a little more out of pocket, but it’s what we needed to do to be able to enjoy our last night on the W Trek.

My girlfriend and I went on a condensed 3-day w-trek in Torres del Paine in January of this year through Dittmar Adventures. It was a slightly last-minute trip with limited time but Dittmar worked with us to make sure we maximized the time we had there. And they took care of everything we needed (lodging and food in the park, bus/ferry tickets in and out of the park, etc.). The trip was was well worth it! I don't feel like we missed much at all with the condensed trek. There were unfortunately some delays to our trek when we got to Patagonia (through no one's fault), but Dittmar was extremely helpful in not only rebooking our trip but also helping us navigate our situation until then. The latter of which even included helping us find a workaround when we temporarily ran out of cash and couldn’t use our credit cards for some meals. We knew we were in good hands and would happily use them again!

Dittmar Adventures organised the W-trek for me and a group of friends. It was very well organised and genuinely one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. It was a bit expensive but I would recommend going with Dittmar because it is very complicated trying to book accomodation by yourself.

Erin had done an amazing job organizing a custom trip in Argentina as we went to Patagonia and saw both the Chile and Argentina side. The cost to rent a car was high so we went with a custom organized plan with Erin for the Argentina part of the trip. We let her know where we wanted to save money and what we wanted to have slightly higher quality and she organized a great one week trip for us in Argentina. Thank you for setting up the trip and for the great experiences from seeing Mt. Fitz Roy to the boat ride on the lake to see Perito Moreno Glacier.
