Observatorio del Pangue - Deep Sky South

Este es el tour astronómico por excelencia en el sector de Valle del Elqui.Un minibús nos lleva desde el pueblo de Vicuña hasta el observatorio y nos reciben 2 guías (Eric y Cristian) ambos muy amables al recibir al equipo turista, el trato es personalizado, responden con muy buena voluntad cada pregunta, son personas con bastante conocimiento. El telescopio es bastante moderno por lo que ubicando coordenadas fácilmente pudimos avistar una variedad de cuerpos brillantes, nebulosas y entre otros durante la visita.Recomiendo ir abrigados porque son unas 3 horas de conocimiento ilustrativo del cosmos en una terraza sobre la montañaMuy satisfecha y muy recomendable para vivir esta experiencia única.

Great evening under the stars.You get to learn and see many things through their 25 inch telescop; apparently, it is the biggest in Chile opened to the public.We were part of a small group of 4 persons in total for a 2 hour discovery for 40,000 Pesos each (Spanish, English and French tour available).I also got the chance to see the nicest sunset ever from the top of the hill (arrive early enough for that :-)Muchas gracias por todo Eric y al resto del equipo.

This is one of the best experiences to learn new things that I had in my life. We visited Vicuna for our honeymoon to learn more about the chilean culture and to see one of the last places in the universe to see the stars without light pollution. And what can I say: if you can do a tour: do it with the observatory del Pangue!!! Eric - actually a French scientist - is just fantastic, super smart and really has huge passion about astronomy. The observatory they build up there is great and his way to explain the universe was fantastic. I can just highly recommend to visit this place!!!

After having cloudy weather on one day, we delayed our trip and stayed in Vicuña one extra day to come to this observatory, which we told the man running the tour. Later that day he told us he was sick but someone else would be running the tour. When we arrived at 8pm, he informed us that no one was available, and we were VERY disappointed as he had given us no time to make other bookings. We were also not sure if he cancelled due to no other people booking the tour, so whether it was worth their time to just have us.Whilst we understand people get sick, clients should be told as soon as possible, particularly as he knew we were staying an extra night for the sole reason of seeing the observatory.I acknowledge that my review is very different to others, so I hope management will take this as a learning point as we were very, very frustrated, particularly as we were provided with no other options.In response to owner below:I still stand by my above review, as even an hour earlier notice would have helped us sort out a different tour, therefore you did not contact us as soon as possible, as my review said. You had our email and accommodation details, yet you did not contact us, so you the time we knew (8pm), all the observatories had already started their tours.Unfortunately for us, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity and we will not be returning to Chile, which is why we stayed an extra night and why we were very disappointed.

Soy un aficionado a la astronomía de Madrid y me encantó la observación astronómica en el observatorio del Pangue. Un cielo espectacular, equipos de alta calidad (utilizamos un dobson de 25) y los monitores (Eric y Cristian) muy profesionales y muy majos. 100% recomendable."

I had the best night of my life!First, Eric was really good as soon as I contacted him by mail always trying to find the easiest solution for me and flexible. Really appreciate it.Then for the tour, as a astronomy enthusiast going there has been on my bucket list for a long time and it was even better than expected.Eric has a lot of knowledge, answered all our questions and we were able to see some many incredible things.I can only recommend you to go there.

Es una experiencia maravillosa, el cielo se ve hermoso y te explican todo muy bien, el guía fue buena onda y nos dieron un café para el frío de la noche, el único problema es que era un poco caro pero aparte de eso todo bien
