La Posada de los Farios

goal of the trip; to experience perhaps the best brown trout fishing /dry flyfishing/ in South America, to explore pristine ,stunning Patagonian wilderness, to learn about local conservation efforts, promote IGFA goals.In February 2020 my wife and I spent a week at La Posada de Los Farios/ The Inn of the Brown Trout/, a hidden jewel of brown trout fishing in Chilean Patagonia.We were cordially welcomed by owners Rex Bryngelson , his wife Meike and the friendly staff at their comfortable beautifully decorated ranch house located on the bank of pristine ,wild and little fished Rio Cisnes in the heart of Patagonian wilderness.The owners are both wonderful hosts, Rex is very knowledgable about the area and as a renowned guide and strong environmentalist emphasizes the importance of fish conservation and strict catch and release practices.The scenery surrounding the lodge and the view was breathtaking; green valley sorrounded by Andean Glaciers, rain forests ,pristine streams, lakes and totally unspoiled nature.Overall the accommodations, service ,food ,friendly, relaxing atmosphere and of course fishing was at its best. All fishing was done either from the boat or wading using dry flies .Rivers and lakes surrounding the lodge have large population of wild brown trout up to 28 inches

This is truly a gem. I fished there in 2015 and had a blast. Heaps of fish, great guides. Rex and Maike are wonderful hosts. The ranch house is delightful and the food not to mention the pisco sours is world class. I plan on returning with my wife next year in late 2024, early 2025.
